Civil Society Strengthening
Fundación Punta de Mita was created with the belief that real community development starts from the ground up—with active community participation, strategic alliances, and long-term commitment. As a community foundation, our role is to support, strengthen, and connect local actors to spark positive and lasting change in the region.
Community foundations play an important role in the social ecosystem: we work both by directly running social programs (“first floor”) and by strengthening and supporting local organizations and grassroots groups (“second floor”). At FPM, we’ve been doing this second-floor work since 2016 through our Civil Society Strengthening Coordination, using dedicated funds that support community and environmental initiatives. We are part of Comunalia, the network of community foundations in Mexico, which strengthens this vision at a national level.
Strengthening Funds
These funds aim to build and strengthen the capacities of grassroots groups and civil society organizations through guidance, technical follow-up, and strategic financial support for their projects.
FOROB
Fondo para el Fortalecimiento de las Organizaciones de Base
Aimed at grassroots groups and organizations in Bahía de Banderas, Cabo Corrientes, and Puerto Vallarta that work on solutions to community problems and promote collective capacity to identify needs, resources, key actors, and strategic local transformation initiatives.

Bahía de Banderas Conservation Fund
A fund dedicated to social and community projects that generate clear environmental conservation impacts in the Bahía de Banderas region.

Community Development Funds
These funds support grassroots groups, social organizations, individuals, and socially invested companies by helping manage resources for community initiatives in Punta de Mita and the Bahía de Banderas area. Beyond financial support, we provide close, methodological guidance throughout the whole process—from project design to execution.
We have alliances with organizations in the United States and Canada that allow us to receive international donations and channel them into these funds so that they go directly to the local initiatives that need them. Regional Gathering of Social Organizations
Strengthening the social fabric also happens through connection. Every year, in partnership with the Altruist Network of Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, we organize the Regional Gathering of Social Organizations—a two-day learning space where civil associations and grassroots groups share experiences, tools, lessons, and best practices. Through workshops, talks, and networking, we promote cooperation and partnerships that multiply our region’s collective impact.
