Compartir del mar
Compartir del Mar is a program that aims to strengthen community life through the active, shared, and meaningful use of community spaces. At the Punta de Mita Foundation, we believe that when the community itself designs, organizes, and leads cultural, recreational, sports, and educational activities, these spaces become real places of connection, identity, and collaboration.
Right now, many of the workshops in the program—like yoga, theater, AA meetings, or dance—are coordinated and taught by community members for the community. Our role is to support, create the right conditions, and open doors so more people can take ownership of these spaces, propose ideas, create, participate, and make things happen.
To make this possible, the program offers collaborative support through:
- Providing and managing community spaces for training, art, recreation, sports, and collective events.
- Organizing activities and workshops in partnership with the community, organizations, and volunteers (art, sports, events, math, etc.).
- Supplying basic materials for activities (stationery, paint, etc.).
- Lending community equipment (balls, mats, tables, chairs, and more) for responsible use in these spaces.
Where does Compartir del Mar takes place?
Community Center “Centro Comunitario del Mar”
A space where recreational, educational, and social participation activities take place. It’s the operational heart of the Foundation and a daily meeting point for the community.
Sports Center (“Centro Deportivo”)
A public space run by the local government, where—a community foundation—we support maintenance, help manage the schedule, and promote sports and recreational activities focused on well-being, prevention, physical and mental health.
Who can participate or get involved?
Anyone in the community who wants to propose, take part, facilitate, enjoy, or lead activities in these spaces. Participation can be as an attendee, a facilitator, a partner, or by organizing new community-led activities.
